Harrison Reed, PA-C

IMG_3315            Harrison Reed, PA-C, MMSc. is an author, public speaker, and critical care physician assistant (PA-C) focused on improving healthcare culture.

Harrison began his medical career at the age of 8 by practicing amateur veterinary medicine on his four potbellied pigs. He went on to obtain a Bachelor’s degree in Biomedical Science from the University of South Florida and a Master’s degree in Medical Science from the Yale University School of Medicine. Though he left his four-legged patient’s behind him, his clinical career in (human) emergency medicine and critical care has taken him to large academic medical centers and small community hospitals across the country.

Harrison regularly writes and lectures about the effects of toxic workplace environments on healthcare delivery and patient care. His writing and research has found recognition through awards from professional societies such as The American Society of Healthcare Publication Editors (ASHPE) and the Society of Critical Care Medicine (SCCM). His mom is still his toughest critic.

Harrison is the Associate Editor of the Journal of the American Academy of Physician Assistants (JAAPA), holds a faculty appointment at the George Washington University School of Medicine and Health Sciences, and practices critical care medicine at the R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore, MD.
